RETTEW's Khan Earns LEED Accreditation

Lancaster, Pa. – RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm providing engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services, today announced Suhail Khan recently earned his accreditation as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Associate from the U.S. Green Building Certification Institute. Khan is director of information technology at RETTEW.

“Suhail’s passion for environmental stewardship has translated into a desire to help both our firm and our clients become more mindful of environmental sustainability,” said Mark Lauriello, PE, president, RETTEW. “I applaud Suhail on taking the time and effort to earn accreditation as a LEED Green Associate.”

Administered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), LEED accreditation is obtained through testing and experience working on LEED projects. Prior to testing, applicants applying for LEED Green Associate status must undergo coursework to learn about the LEED rating system and the LEED certification process. Additionally, they are required to know key green building concepts and goals associated with LEED and understand the role of integrative design.

“As a LEED Green Associate, I hope to be able to contribute to the sustainability movement both internally and by working with clients on their LEED projects,” said Khan.

Khan earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Virginia Tech in 1994, a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Millersville University in 1999 and a master’s degree in information science from Penn State University in 2001. He resides in Lititz, Lancaster County, Pa.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system,  providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance in the areas of energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts. More information about LEED can be found at www.usgbc.org.
