PBS&J’s Maurstad Named National Director of Water Policy and Planning

Tampa, FL – David Maurstad was recently named national director of water policy and planning at PBS&J, with the mission of helping to grow PBS&J’s flood mapping business throughout the United States and internationally.

“Flood mapping is not only an area for which David has long had a great deal of passion, but it is also one where PBS&J believes that he can be of tremendous value,” says Randy L. Larson, PE, CCM, President of PBS&J’s Infrastructure, Water & Environment Group.

In his new role, Maurstad will support the PBS&J/STARR team, working on the FEMA Risk MAP contract. He will continue to serve as PBS&J’s client service manager for FEMA, lead the growth of the Cooperative Technical Partner flood mapping business, and coordinate PBS&J’s efforts to provide FEMA-type services internationally.

Maurstad joined PBS&J in October 2008, as vice president and national business manager for the emergency management business sector. He will continue to support the emergency management division and will also help grow and develop the company’s dams and levees practice.

As a nationally recognized expert, Maurstad will actively participate in key professional organizations associated with flood mapping and levees. Prior to joining PBS&J, Maurstad was FEMA’s assistant administrator and federal insurance administrator, mitigation directorate, and administrated the National Flood Insurance Program. A native Nebraskan, Maurstad served as mayor of his hometown, state senator, and lieutenant governor.
