Aurora, CO – July 13, 2010 – Jill S. Tietjen, PE, has been elected by shareholders to Merrick & Company’s Board of Directors, it was announced by Ralph W. Christie, Jr., PE, Merrick’s Chairman, President, and CEO.
“We’re excited to have Jill as part of our Board,” said Christie. “The depth of expertise she brings to the firm will help to further secure Merrick’s position as a leader in the energy market.”
Tietjen is president and CEO of Technically Speaking, a consulting firm that serves the electric utilities industry as well as organizations that serve the electric utility industry. She also serves as an expert witness before public utility commissions and other governmental agencies.
Tietjen has over 30 years in the electric utility industry, including work with Stone & Webster Management Consultants, Hagler Bailly Consulting, Mobil Oil Corporation’s Mining and Coal Division, and Duke Power Company. She serves on the Board of Directors of Georgia Transmission Corporation. She has written and co-authored multiple technical papers for Public Utilities Fortnightly, Transmission & Distribution, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) publications. Tietjen is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a BS in applied mathematics and a minor in electrical engineering. She also holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. Tietjen has been continually recognized for her contributions to the industry, including her receiving the 2001 Woman in Technology Award from the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, Tau Beta Pi’s Distinguished Alumna Award, and the Girl Scouts – Mile Hi Council’s Woman of Distinction. She has been inducted into the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame and is listed in Who’s Who in Engineering, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in Technology.
