Charlotte—Julie McDonald, PE, PLS, a Geomatics office manager with McKim & Creed in Charlotte, has been appointed vice chair of the International Right of Way Association’s Surveying and Engineering Committee. The appointment was announced at the IRWA Annual Conference, which was held in Calgary June 27-30.
The mission of the International Right of Way Surveying and Engineering Committee is to provide advice and assistance on issues related to the survey of real property or interests in property for right-of-way purposes. The committee monitors legislation, concepts, practices and procedures that relate to surveying real property and rights of way for public or private use, and the subsequent construction on affected parcels.
As vice chair of the committee, McDonald will coordinate meeting agendas and minutes, review and update the committee’s strategic plan, and help ensure that the committee is achieving its mission.
McDonald has been a member of the IRWA since 2008. As a Geomatics office manager with McKim & Creed, she supervises 30 crew members and oversees multiple surveying projects, including such projects as the CATS North Corridor Light Rail project, construction surveying for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, McAlpine Creek Greenway, and gas line relocating services for Piedmont Natural Gas.
