The credential recognizes professionals in the industry who possess a qualified and quantified level of expertise, including both education and experience, in design-build project delivery. Design-build project delivery combines the disciplines of planning, architecture, engineering, surveying, and construction into a seamless program for delivering newly constructed projects and renovated projects to clients. To achieve certification, candidates must pass an extensive exam that covers eight domains. These include project delivery; general attributes of design-build; project team organization; procurement; estimating/specifying; contracts and legal; project management; and ethics/professionalism.
As one of the key project staff serving Merrick’s military and government clients, Doak has extensive experience in the design-build process. He recently co-authored a new publication for the U.S. Air Force on the design-build process. He is also currently involved in planning and designing three separate company operations facilities located at Fort Carson, Colorado; Fort Riley, Kansas; and Fort Sill, Oklahoma and is also involved in a medical clinic renovation at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, and the 10th Special Forces Complex located at Fort Carson, Colorado.
