Tarentum, Pa. — Pete Brothers, project surveyor of R.A. Smith National (formerly R.A. Smith & Associates and its National Survey & Engineering Division) — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, geographic information systems (GIS) and 3D visualization consultants — Tarentum (Pittsburgh), Pa., has attained his professional land surveyor (PLS) registration for the state of Pennsylvania.
Brothers has 16 years of experience in land surveying with a specialty in laser scanning. Brothers has provided GPS and laser scanning for a variety of projects, including major highways, bridges, airport terminals, tunnels, utility towers, the cliff faces at the Hoover Dam and others.
Brothers has been at the forefront of utilizing the newest technology in the surveying field. His background includes the early use of GPS in 1993 and new laser scanning technology in 2003 to create efficiencies that reduce a surveyor’s time in the field, while providing highly accurate data.
Brothers joined R.A. Smith National in 2007. He lives in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.
