New Free Special Report Helps Contractors, Engineers, and Surveyors Win Infrastructure Projects

(Norcross, Ga., 14 July 2009) A new free special report published by Leica Geosystems, The New Infrastructure Boom Market, offers pricing, bidding, and marketing tips to help contractors, engineers, and surveyors win lucrative infrastructure projects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.

According to the report, the federal government will spend $787 billion to spur economic growth in the U.S. under the ARRA. Of this total, approximately $140 billion is earmarked for construction projects – specifically infrastructure rebuilding and expansion.

In The New Infrastructure Boom Market, design/build professionals will discover:
• How to price your bid to maximize your chances of winning the contract award.
• 12 tips for making yourself the front-running among firms submitting proposals.
• Where to get notification online of new infrastructure projects coming up for bidding.
• 7 ways technology can give you an edge when competing for ARRA projects.
• Federal and state requirements for bidding on and managing ARRA projects.

While firms that employ technology to control project costs have the best chance of winning ARRA contracts, the competition for these projects is fierce, the report notes.

“Under the ARRA, with the Obama administration’s emphasis on cost cutting, bidding for these projects is highly competitive,” says Gerard Manley, Vice President, Engineered Solutions, Leica Geosystems.

In some instances, notes Manley, there have been 30 to 40 contractors submitting proposals ARRA projects. As a result, project bids have been coming in at 5% to 27% below estimates.

Leica Geosystems’ report observes that the ARRA brings a much-needed boost to the U.S. construction industry, which has been hit hard by the recession and soft housing market; new construction starts for 2009 are estimated at $463.1 billion, a 15% drop from 2008.
