Leonard Harwell promoted to Office Manager

Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. appoints Cheryl Gregory, PE Vice President 
Detroit, MI (April 14, 2009) — Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. (SDA), a regional civil engineering, landscape architecture, and surveying firm appoints Cheryl Gregory, PE Vice President. 

Cheryl Gregory, PE received a B.S. in Construction Engineering from Lawrence Technological University. Ms. Gregory is currently SDA’s Transportation Department Manager, was recently appointed an SDA Associate, and is a member of the Women’s Transportation Seminar, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. In 1999, Cheryl left her position as Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Metro Region Design Engineer to establish the MDOT Taylor Transportation Service Center (TSC). She managed this office for one year and then established the Port Huron TSC, managing this office for three years. During her tenure as TSC Manager for both Taylor and Port Huron, she also held the position of TSC Development Engineer until the positions could be filled.

Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. appoints Joe Muller, PE Vice President 
Detroit, MI (April 14, 2009) — Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. (SDA), a regional civil engineering, landscape architecture, and surveying firm appoints Joe Muller, PE Vice President. 

Mr. Muller has more than 35 years of experience in the civil engineering industry including national pavement management programs, storm water management, road design, survey, and geotechnical services. Muller is SDA’s National Land Development Department Manager focusing on serving clients across the United States. Mr. Muller graduated from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Joe is currently licensed as a Professional Engineer in Michigan, Ohio, Arizona, South Carolina, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and West Virginia. Mr. Muller belongs to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).

Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. Re-elects Board of DeDecker, Lakin, Potter, Platz, Sovel, and Wade 
Detroit, MI (April 14, 2009) – – Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. (SDA), a regional civil engineering, landscape architecture, and surveying firm, re-elects Board of DeDecker, Lakin, Potter, Platz, Sovel, and Wade. 

SDA is an employee-owned consulting engineering and surveying firm. Directors are annually voted in by the employee stockholders. The following officers were appointed by the Board: President David A. Lakin, PE; Chairman Paul C. Wade, PE; Secretary and Vice President George M. Platz, PS; Treasurer and Vice President David L. Potter, PE; Vice President Thomas J. Sovel, PE; and Vice President Catherine M. DeDecker, PS. The Board also appointed:  Assistant Secretary Thomas J. Dohr, PE, Assistant Treasurer Steven Benedettini, Vice President Cheryl L. Gregory, PE, and Vice President Joseph M. Muller, PE.

Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. promotes Leonard Harwell to Office Manager 
Detroit, MI (April 14, 2009) – – Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. (SDA), a regional civil engineering, landscape architecture, and surveying firm, promotes Leonard Harwell to Office Manager. 

Mr. Harwell is a Licensed Builder in Michigan and obtained his CAD Certification from Ross Technical School. He is also an alumnus of Lawrence Technological University where he studied Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Harwell previously owned a construction business concentrating on building renovation.  Mr. Harwell began his career with SDA in September of 1990 and has held a variety of positions, including CAD Department Manager, gaining the experience necessary to become our Detroit Headquarters Office Manager. Mr. Harwell has 19 years of experience as a designer and project coordinator, along with a strong background in business development.

“While working at SDA, we have seen tremendous growth in Leonard Harwell.  He has become a ‘Problem Solver’ for our Detroit clients. His business background and technical knowledge makes him the ideal person to manage our Detroit Office as we help to rebuild Detroit’s infrastructure,” said David A. Lakin, PE, President of SDA.
