The PBSJ Corporation Announces Key Management and Director Changes

Recent management and director changes will support strategic growth and a family of infrastructure-related companies all focused on improving life for generations(SM).

Tampa, FL – Following the rollout of a new 2015 strategic plan that outlines a plan for smart, aggressive growth, The PBSJ Corporation, parent company of PBS&J, PBS&J Constructors, Inc., Peter R. Brown Construction, Inc., and PBS&J International, Inc., announces key management and director changes.

According to Corporate Chairman and CEO John B. Zumwalt, III, “The needs of our corporation have changed as we take steps toward a future that will include a family of infrastructure-related subsidiary companies working to improve life for generations around the globe. These changes support our maturing organization and diversification goals.” 

The PBSJ Corporation
Judy A. Mitchell was elected by shareholders to serve on The PBSJ Corporation board of directors. President of Peter R. Brown Construction, Inc., Mitchell has served in that capacity since 1992. She is one of the three owners of the company prior to its acquisition by The PBSJ Corporation and served as its Treasurer. She joined Peter R. Brown Construction, Inc. in 1978.

Robert J. Paulsen has been appointed to the position of corporate president, with responsibility for the day-to-day management of The PBSJ Corporation’s corporate services. Paulsen, who most recently served as president of subsidiary company PBS&J, has been a member of The PBSJ Corporation Board of Directors since 2000 and serves as its vice chairman. He is the former national service director for PBS&J’s Transportation business unit and previously led the company’s board of directors. He joined the company in 1986.

Charles I. “Skip” Homan succeeds Paulsen as president of The PBSJ Corporation’s consulting subsidiary, PBS&J. He is a past director of the company, former national service director for civil engineering and facilities, and former president and CEO of the Michael Baker Corporation.

Clarence E. Anthony was named the board’s presiding director. He also serves as PBS&J’s chief marketing officer.

New members of the 2009 board of directors for PBS&J, The PBSJ Corporation’s consulting subsidiary company, include the following:
• Joel H. Bennett, the subsidiary company’s first independent director; principal of Joel Bennett Consulting; president of Alchemix Corporation; former chairman of Parsons, Brinkerhoff, Quade and Douglas; and former senior officer of the Parsons Corporation.
• John R. Powell, company principal for PBS&J’s West Coast operations.
• Donald R. Vogt, director of corporate governance, risk management and compliance programs companywide

Peter R. Brown Construction, Inc.
The newly named 2009 board of directors for Peter R. Brown Construction, Inc., acquired by The PBSJ Corporation in December 2008, includes:
• Randy L. Larson, presiding director, president of PBS&J Constructors and former national service director PBS&J’s construction services
• Lawrence H. Hentz, national service director for PBS&J water sector services
• Charles I. “Skip” Homan, president of PBS&J, former chairman of PBS&J Constructors; former national service director for PBS&J facilities business sector, former president/CEO of Michael Baker Corporation
• Judy A. Mitchell, president of Peter Brown Construction, director of The PBSJ Corporation
• Benton L. Rudolph, deputy national service director for PBS&J facilities business sector
• John Stewart, executive vice president of Peter Brown Construction
• Eduardo “Tito” Vargas, executive vice president of Peter Brown Construction

The 2009 board of directors of The PBSJ Corporation’s international subsidiary company, PBS&J International, Inc., includes the following new members:
• Rafiq S. Alqasem,  PBS&J senior group manager for transportation planning and for international assignments
• Joel H. Bennett, independent director (see PBS&J above)
