Robert J. Paulsen Named President of PBS&J

Tampa, FL—Robert J. Paulsen has been named president of PBS&J, the primary subsidiary company of The PBSJ Corporation and one of the nation’s leading architecture and engineering firms. He succeeds Todd J. Kenner, who resigned from the company effective August 22, 2008.

Paulsen is also chairman of PBS&J and vice chairman and secretary of The PBSJ Corporation’s Board of Directors. He has been a director of the corporation since 2000.  He joined PBS&J in 1986 and has been an officer of that company since 1993. Prior to his recent assignment, Paulsen served as the Chief Operating Officer of PBS&J and as PBS&J’s National Director of Transportation Services.

"Bob has long been known for his strong operational skills," states John B. Zumwalt, III, chairman and CEO of The PBSJ Corporation. "We have great confidence in his leadership skills as we work to grow the company."

Paulsen is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; the Institute of Transportation Engineers; the National Society of Professional Engineers; the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association; the American Road and Transportation Builders Association; the American Council of Engineering Companies; the Florida Engineering Society; and the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers.

Mr. Paulsen is a native of Cushing, Iowa, and received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University in 1974. In 1992 he completed the Management Program at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Florida, Kansas, and Texas.

Todd Kenner, who joined PBS&J through the company’s acquisition of Church Engineering in 1992, was, according to Zumwalt, " a great champion for PBS&J. He established and grew our presence in the West; was a strong advocate for professional and leadership development; championed the creation of Leadership PBS&J, PBS&J University, and PBS&J’s dedicated Project/Program Management Office; and oversaw the development of PBS&J’s new strategic plan. We wish Todd much success in his career and future contributions to our industry."
