Merrick & Company Awarded Multi-agency Digital Mapping Service Contract for Fargo, North Dakota, USA

Aurora, CO USA – Merrick & Company, a world leader in LiDAR, digital ortho imaging, photogrammetry, and geospatial solutions was again awarded a contract to update geospatial data in a 450 square mile project area that includes the City of Fargo, ND, the City of West Fargo, ND, City of Dilworth, MN, and the City of Moorhead, MN, Clay County (MN) and Cass County (ND).  The aerial survey flights were completed in May and final data products will be delivered in December 2008.  Merrick will provide digital color orthophotography, LiDAR, updated building footprints and pavement edges, a DTM, and 1-foot contours. 

Mark Bittner, Fargo City Engineer states, “Merrick’s work for us dates back to 1995 and we currently update our geospatial data every three years.  The City of Fargo is again the lead contracting agency for this entire update project, ensuring that all involved jurisdiction’s geospatial needs are met.”
 
The data will continue to be used for a variety of geographic information system applications across all of the government entities including highway and street maintenance projects, development planning, and floodplain mapping.  A unique study will examine each building by its location and elevation to determine the financial cost/benefit of the flood mapping.
