RETTEW Hires Birth to Oversee Survey Operations in Firm’s Northeastern PA Region

Lancaster, Pa. – RETTEW, a multidiscipline engineering, planning, land development, environmental consulting and surveying firm, recently strengthened its leadership in survey operations by hiring Brent L. Birth, PLS, to serve as group manager of survey operations in RETTEW’s northeastern Pa. region, which comprises Bucks, Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton and Schuylkill Counties.

“Brent’s proven track record in the survey profession is a great benefit to RETTEW and our clients,” said Mark Lauriello, PE, president, RETTEW. “His knowledge and expertise serve to enhance RETTEW’s survey capabilities in our northeastern region, and we’re glad to have him with us.” Lauriello added that RETTEW has 50 surveying employees, providing clients with one of the largest surveying corps in the Northeast. Last fiscal year the firm’s surveying revenues totaled nearly $7 million.

Working from RETTEW’s Nazareth, Pa., office location, Birth is responsible for managing the workflow between RETTEW’s Nazareth survey field staff and office personnel to ensure maximum quality and efficiency for ALTA/ACSM land title surveys; construction, boundary and topographic surveys; and aerial mapping control. He also is responsible for fostering client relationships and client satisfaction; managing, mentoring and coaching junior survey staff in the Nazareth office; proposal writing; quality control and assurance; and conducting survey research and analysis.

With 29 years of experience in surveying, engineering and forestry, Birth was previously a survey manager for Clough Harbour & Associates LLP in the firm’s Scranton, Pa., office location. He was also founder and sole proprietor of Stone Corner Resources, LLC, a surveying firm that specialized in boundary, topographic and group control surveys. While running his own company, Birth’s clients included one of the top ten largest cable companies in the country, for which he processed cable and fiber information into a geographic information system (GIS). The project aided Birth’s client in tracking facilities and conducting strategic planning.

Birth is a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors (PSLS), currently serving as state director for the society’s northeast chapter. He has previously served as chapter president, vice president and secretary and is a recipient of the distinguished service award, which recognizes commitment and dedication to the survey profession through work of the local chapter. Birth is also active in his community, coaching little league and teener league baseball and youth soccer, and he has served as Cub master and acting executive director of his local Cub Scout pack. He resides in Jim Thorpe, Carbon County, Pa.
