Neil Other New Topcon Manager for Australia and New Zealand

Livermore, California – Neil Other has been named sales manager of Australia by Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS), headquartered in Livermore, California. In this new position, Other will be responsible for all sales and marketing operations for Topcon’s construction, positioning, survey and GIS products.

He will also act as a liaison between TPS’ Australian and New Zealand dealers and the company’s factories in the United States and Japan.

Other, a 16-year veteran of the construction and positioning industry, will be permanently based in Australia.

Before joining TPS, he spent 16 years with Trimble Navigation Limited, with roles in manufacturing, service and support, and most recently, sales and marketing of machine control products globally. This included postings in Sweden and the United States.

Ray O’Connor, TPS president and CEO, said “Neil’s vast experience in construction, positioning, survey, and GIS will prove invaluable to Topcon as we aggressively pursue growth opportunities in Australia and New Zealand.”

Jamie Williamson, senior vice president for sales and marketing, said Other “brings not only a world of experience to this new position, but he also has an acute understanding and appreciation for the global opportunities for Topcon and its team. He understands the importance of developing and maintaining a strong relationship with dealers in all areas, from providing quality products to maintaining exemplary service and support.”

Other said he opted to join Topcon because it was an opportunity to work with the global industry leader in innovation in machine control, survey, and GIS products.

“This entire industry is on the verge of explosive growth through the use of advanced technological, positioning, and survey products, and I decided it was time to join the technology leader,” he said.

“The positioning systems available today are becoming essential tools for anyone involved in the construction, surveying and GIS industries. A few years ago, companies were moving to this technology to get an edge over their competitors; now they must have this technology in order to stay competitive.

“For that reason,” Other said, “we are poised to see massive growth over the next five to 10 years.

“I’m very enthusiastic about being a part of Topcon’s development in the Australia and New Zealand markets at this time,” he said.

“We are going to see major changes across these industries with which we deal, and we are going to see a lot of innovative new products rolled out by Topcon, and new ways of working with positioning technology and machine control.

“Topcon is taking very advanced technology and adapting it so that people can get to use it very quickly, with a minimum learning curve. That’s the whole philosophy of Topcon:  Add to the bottom line of our customers, by allowing them to do things faster, better, and cheaper,” said Other.

“And in Australia now, our dealers will be working directly with TPS in California, allowing them and our customers to take advantage of a more streamlined operation.

“Our dealers will be able to respond more easily to the needs of their customers, and we’ll be in a better position to respond directly to feedback from our dealers,” he said.

“My job is to facilitate this process, providing sales and marketing, and training resources for the region – so our dealers’ relationship with TPS is strengthened and simplified at the same time.”
