Tripod Data Systems Introduces Low-Cost Recon NX Series

Bundles with Survey Pro software start at $1,399

CORVALLIS, Ore.—January 17, 2006—Tripod Data Systems (TDS) today announced a low-cost version of its popular TDS Recon® data collector. The new Recon NX series, which includes 200-MHz and 400-MHz models, meets the same durability standards and offers the same performance as all Recons, but does not include CompactFlash expansion slots.

"The Recon NX series is our most affordable option for surveyors who simply need a rugged, powerful data collector, and with its large built-in storage capacity, many surveyors may not need the expansion slots,” said Daryl Stewart, survey products marketing manager. "The Recon and TDS survey software bundle has always been a cost-competitive replacement for the HP 48; with the Recon NX series, it’s an even better value.”

Like all Recons, the NX series meets MIL-STD-810F military standards for drops, vibration and temperature extremes. It also has an IP67 rating, meaning it’s impervious to water and dust. Both Recon NX series models come with Windows Mobile® software and a 15-hour rechargeable battery.

Pricing and availability
The Recon NX series is available from TDS-authorized dealers. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the Recon NX series and TDS Survey Pro™ software bundles starts at:

• $1,399 for the Recon NX 200 with a 200-MHz Intel XScale processor and 64 MB of Flash memory

• $1,699 for the Recon NX 400 with a 400-MHz Intel XScale processor and 128 MB of Flash memory
