Integration of Acquis tools to enhance capabilities on Oracle Spatial 10g platform
Norcross, GA — Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging has entered into a strategic partnership with Acquis to facilitate the processing and delivery of geospatial data within the Oracle® Spatial 10g environment.
Leica Geosystems will integrate the geospatial imaging capabilities of ERDAS IMAGINE® with the unique Acquis suite of tools for manipulating Oracle Spatial 10g data. The result will augment Leica Geosystems’ world class raster data handling with the vector handling capabilities of Acquis to facilitate topological editing of data within the Oracle 10g enterprise infrastructure.
“Our relationship with Acquis enables us to provide an offering unique to the marketplace, empowering enterprises with Oracle Database 10g to not only access geospatial information, but also to manipulate and save feature data,” said Bob Morris, President of Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging. “It is a natural synergy of the strengths of ERDAS IMAGINE and Acquis that will give ERDAS IMAGINE the ability to topologically edit in the Oracle environment.”
“The integration of Leica and Acquis technologies on the Oracle 10g enterprise architecture is a breakthrough for customers undertaking real time web-based geospatial data capture, dissemination, visualization and analysis,” said Liam McGeown, CEO of Acquis, Inc. “Going forward, our combined technologies facilitate the integration of geospatial data types and workflows within a single scalable, secure and interoperable enterprise solution."
"The Leica Geosystems – Acquis partnership is expected to deliver important new capabilities to enterprise customers using Oracle Spatial 10g in defense, intelligence and homeland security," said retired Brigadier General Jack Pellicci, currently Group VP, Business Development for Oracle North America Public Sector. "Working together, they can provide developers, analysts and decision makers with higher quality, more up-to-date products and information that reflect real-time operational activities.”
“This announcement is an important milestone in the evolution of geospatial technology. These companies have joined forces to offer complete, enterprise-grade geospatial capabilities within an enterprise IT platform, Oracle 10g,” said David Sonnen, IDC’s consultant for Spatial Information Management. "This is an initial example of the way that new, large-scale geospatial systems will look and operate.”
