GREENBELT, MD, 14 SEPTEMBER 2005 – Dynamix Corp., an SBA HubZone Certified Small Disadvantaged Business that specializes in providing bio/environmental, Information Technology, and GIS services to federal government entities, is providing military and federal agencies with timely geospatial map information of the Gulf Coast areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
In support of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the Dynamix team has been providing mapping information for disaster recovery to military and federal civilian agencies throughout the Katrina devastation area. This support has focused on providing the Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian agencies with integrated geospatial infrastructure information with post hurricane commercial satellite imagery over inundated areas, particularly the greater New Orleans region.
Current condition maps were rapidly generated and provided to the National Guard in support of recovery efforts in St. Bernard Parish. Web technology is also being used to provide the military with situational web maps depicting flood inundation zones, critical infrastructure information, and other map-based information.
The USGS mapping project is the second Katrina recovery operation in which Dynamix is involved. Last week, a Dynamix Bio-Hazard team from Dallas arrived in New Orleans to begin removal of human remains and infectious materials from hospitals and other sites in the city. Those activities are expected to continue for more than a month.
Established in 1987, Dynamix Corp. provides a wide range of additional services including information technology services, GIS data management and integration, hardware and network maintenance, hardware relocations, information security, software development and maintenance, and technical staffing.
