The New York Department of Transportation has placed an order for 84 Leica Geosystems’ System 1200 GPS surveying instruments, which will be used for a wide range of general surveying and construction applications throughout the state.
Leica Geosystems has supplied 84 GX1230 dual-frequency GPS survey receivers with Intuicom radios for RTK data and GeoOffice post-processing software for 11 locations. Technical support and service will be provided under a five-year service agreement.
Bob Williams, president of the Surveying & Engineering Division for the Americas, said, “The New York DOT joins the growing number of state, municipal and private surveying customers embracing the new System 1200 technology. The System 1200 is the first to integrate GPS and total station technology to provide seamless solutions for the surveying industry.”
The GX1230 receivers are designed with Leica Geosystems’ new SmartTrack GPS measurement engine, and incorporate fast self-checking RTK algorithms and a comprehensive self-explanatory graphical user interface. The rugged GPS instruments, with magnesium alloy construction, are built to the toughest MIL specifications to withstand extreme field conditions. The SmartTrack technology ensures reliable centimeter-accuracy solutions at distances of 30 km or more.
