Optech announces formation of Industrial & 3D Imaging Division

Toronto, Ontario, June 27, 2005 – Optech Incorporated, the global leader in the development and manufacture of laser-based survey instruments, is pleased to announce that its Laser Imaging and Industrial Products divisions are being combined into the new Industrial & 3D Imaging Division.

The previously independent divisions will now share common administration, engineering and manufacturing resources, which will lead to a more cohesive strategic focus of the entire product palette. Merging the two divisions will create a larger pool of available resources for both sales and customer support, a requirement that has become clear with recent increases in sales across both divisions.
The new division will be headed up by Brent W. Gelhar, previously the Director of the Laser Imaging Division.

“The integration of these divisions is a result of market changes which have brought increased scale economies for the combined divisions,” said Don Carswell, President of Optech. “The Laser Imaging Division focused only on the ILRIS-3D laser ranging and imaging systems, while Industrial Products’ main thrust has been our Cavity Monitoring System (CMS) and successful line of industrial level monitors. Many common customer groups have emerged over the past year, predominantly for the ILRIS-3D and CMS as three-dimensional laser imaging devices become more accepted technology, so it only makes sense to merge the two entities into one.” Optech also unveiled a new logo to identify the newly created division and its products.
