Leading Engineering Firm to Plan Redevelopment of Route 1 Corridor
Chantilly, VA — Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd., the fastest-growing engineering firm in the mid-Atlantic region, is pleased to announce that it will be engineering the Hyattsville Route 1 corridor revitalization project, which is aimed at reestablishing the City’s traditional downtown and stimulating economic development. The project, a $115 million mixed-use project that will be built by Eakin/Youngentob Associates, will include more than 400 urban row homes and condominiums with some live-work space, as well as retail shops.
Because the project is poised to be a catalyst for the area’s revitalization, on April 20 the State of Maryland designated the project a “Priority Place.” This designation was made through Gov. Robert. L. Ehrlich, Jr.’s Priority Places initiative, which is designed to help local communities and developers achieve smart growth by designating outstanding development projects and plans for special state assistance and attention. The Hyattsville Route 1 corridor project was designated as a priority place with the intention of creating a healthy economic climate by providing opportunities for businesses to flourish and people to work.

The City of Hyattsville has also teamed up with the Housing Initiative Partnership (HIP) and for-profit partners on a $35 million redevelopment called Renaissance Square, which will also be in the Route 1 corridor and will have rental apartments, condominiums and a YMCA.
