18th Annual GIS in the Rockies Conference September 21-23, 2005

INVESCO Field at Mile High Is Site of 18th Annual GIS in the Rockies Conference September 21-23, 2005

Denver, Colo. — February 18, 2005 — Planning for the 18th Annual GIS in the Rockies conference is off to an exciting start with the selection of INVESCO Field at Mile High as the venue. The 2005 Planning Committee selected the theme "The Geospatial Revolution: A Whole New View" to convey the revolutionary benefits organizations reap when they map their assets, customers and suppliers.  The conference will be September 21-23, 2005. The program will include workshops and seminars, technical sessions, a job fair and the exhibition on Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday events will include tours of local businesses or agencies, a geocaching event and a golf outing. In addition to the program elements that continue conference traditions, several new elements are being organized as well, to both reflect and further stimulate the growth of geographic information systems in the Rocky Mountain Region.

The six organizing societies are the Colorado Section of the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), the Rocky Mountain Region of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA), the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado (PLSC), the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) and GIS Colorado. Each sponsoring society has two voting members on the Planning Committee: Karen Meckel and Douglas Ort, ACSM; Roland Mangold and Jan Van Sickle, ASPRS; Pamela Coonrod and Cherie Terrel, GITA; Mike Greer and Peter Kent, PLSC; Karen Brandt and Chris Longo, URISA; Brian Goodack and Jim Martin, GIS Colorado. Milly Powell and Ken Turnbull are at-large members of the Planning Committee.

The officers of the GIS in the Rockies 2005 Planning Committee are Karen Brandt, Chair; Brian Goodack, Vice-Chair; Milly Powell, Treasurer; and Karen Meckel, Secretary.

Each sponsoring society is developing a program track to ensure the conference offers value to the members of all segments of the geotechnology community.
