Third Annual Survey and GIS Summit-Building a Technology Exchange Forum for Surveying and Related Fields

Redlands, California-The Third Annual ESRI Survey and GIS Summit will be held July 23-26, 2005, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. Created for both users and nonusers of ESRI technology, the summit bridges the gap between surveying, engineering, and geographic information system (GIS) technology. This summit provides the opportunity for surveyors to learn more about GIS while earning continuing education units (CEUs) or professional development hours (PDHs) from their home states.

The Survey and GIS Summit gives attendees the opportunity to learn about integrating surveying and GIS through presentations, technical demonstrations, and discussions led by land surveyors, engineers, educators, GIS professionals, and others. Paper presentations at the summit will cover the following topics:

• Land management
• GPS technology
• Integrating survey data and GIS
• Survey and GIS technology case studies
• Implementing GIS
• Education programs-bridging the gap
• Surveying and GIS integration
•Geodetic control

"The Survey and GIS Summit is an excellent opportunity for professionals in surveying, GIS, and related fields to share ideas and discover how these technologies working together can improve the processes and quality of their work," says Mike Weir, ESRI surveying industry manager. "As in the past two conferences, we expect a broad range of professionals contributing to the success of this conference."
The summit coincides with the 2005 ESRI International User Conference and will include the User Conference Plenary Session, the Map Gallery Opening and Evening Reception, and the Exhibit Pavilion.
