Leica Geosystems has announced the winner of the 2004 System 1200 Sweepstakes, featuring a 2004 Ford F-150 SuperCrew pick-up truck as the grand prize.
The winner was Pete Tuftee, computer aided design technician and crew chief with Welch Hanson Associates of Delafield, Wisconsin. Tuftee was given the keys to the truck in an award ceremony at the company’s North American headquarters in Norcross, Georgia, December 8, 2004. The award was presented by Hans Hess, chairman and CEO of Leica Geosystems, and Bob Williams, president of the Surveying and Engineering Division for the Americas.
Presentation of the sweepstakes award was the culmination of Leica Geosystems’ North American road show to promote the introduction of the new System 1200 technology for high-precision surveying. The six-month tour visited over 104 locations in 41 states and provinces in the United States and Canada, with product demonstrations at special events hosted by Leica Geosystems’ dealers and sales representatives. Qualified U.S. visitors participating in the demonstrations were eligible to enter the grand prize sweepstakes.
Williams said, “The System 1200 road show was an enormous success. The goal of the technology tour was to build awareness and educate the North American surveying market as to the unique advantages of the System 1200. The demonstrations resulted in a significant increase in product sales for Leica Geosystems’ distribution partners.”
Tuftee said, “I’d like to thank everyone at Leica Geosystems for the splendid reception given to me during my visit to Norcross. I have always been impressed with Leica products and technical support, and I was overwhelmed by my tour of the company’s expanded customer support facility in North America.”
