Online GPS Courses Announced

Announcement of GPS GAP

It is my pleasure to inform you about the GPS GAP Internet initiative. GPS GAP offers college level course on adjustments, GPS, and the geodetic foundation. For additional details see www.gnss.umaine.edu or contact me at Leick@spatial.maine.edu

Throughout the development of these courses I have made a major effort to maintain the necessary depth to assure understanding of this marvelous but complex satellite system. Asynchronous delivery is especially attractive because one can listen to lectures and labs whenever one feels and do so as often as one would like to. Innovative uses of many Mathcad programs that run on a server at the university make it possible to process and analyze actual GPS carrier phase and pseudorange observations in real-time and step by step. No third-party GPS software is used. All source code is visible.

GPS GAP represents a focused effort of 25 years of my professional career to teach and research the respective subjects; including writing the textbook GPS Satellite Surveying (1990, 1995, 2004). The last year and half were completely dedicated to the development of these Internet courses.
