eGPS Solutions Makes Inaugural Introduction of its Services to Surveying and Mapping Professionals

NORCROSS, GA, September 30, 2004 – Since launching Georgia’s first high-precision GPS base station network for surveying and mapping on July 30th, eGPS Solutions has been actively introducing its groundbreaking capabilities to industry professionals.

This past month the company was an exhibitor at the Georgia URISA GIS/IT Conference. On the last day of the convention, Lonnie Sears, President of eGPS Solutions, spoke before a group on GPS Reference Stations vs. GPS Reference Networks. “I’m very pleased with the interest that was shown for eGPS Solutions’ services”, said Mr. Sears. “I’m confident that we will render many subscribers to our network.”

Earlier in September, Mr.Sears also presented an overview of the company and its services at the monthly meeting of the Gwinnett Chapter of SAMSOG.

Through the utilization of Trimble Navigation’s VRS® (Virtual Reference Station) Technology and Bluetooth® wireless modems with high speed internet connections, the eGPS Solutions system incorporates a network of permanent base stations and central processing facility that is one of the most advanced Real Time systems in use nationally and one of only 72 globally. Users of the eGPS Solutions system can conclude their work faster, more accurately and more efficiently than ever before.

Mr. Sears readily points out to his audiences, “Gone are the days of having to establish a reference base station. The eGPS Solutions system makes it possible to just go the site and go to work.” The company’s network of ten permanent base stations across North Georgia continuously collect GPS data and process it through a central processing facility. Encompassing 10,000 square miles, the network spans across 41counties from the city of Athens to counties bordering Alabama and covers all of metro Atlanta.

“Another key aspect of our system”, according to Mr. Sears, “is that we make survey accuracy as easy to obtain as mapping accuracy.”

“The cutting edge technology utilized by the eGPS Solutions network can positively impact surveyors, GIS providers, contractors and other GPS users. Few products truly revolutionize the way a professional conducts business, but this is one that does.”

Located in Norcross, eGPS Solutions was founded earlier this year. Its senior executives have over 60 years of combined experience in the mapping and surveying industry, and are members of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia. eGPS Solutions is Georgia’s first internet-based, real time GPS network.
