Summit Engineering Corporation Acquires Frontier Surveying, Inc.

Acquisition Positions Summit to Expand as a Full-Service Company Serving the Mining Industry

Civil engineering firm Summit Engineering Corporation has acquired Frontier Surveying, Inc. Blending the capabilities of Summit and Frontier will allow Summit to supply a wider range of services than any other such company in Nevada. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Reno-based Summit Engineering is one of the nation’s leading civil engineering firms, and provides a wide range of services, including civil engineering, planning, photogrammetry, water rights, land surveys, construction surveying, geotechnical engineering, environmental services, hydrology and inspection. The company has provided multiple services for mining interests over the past two decades from its Elko, Nev., location.

Frontier Surveying, based in Elko, provides surveying and mapping services specific to the mining industry throughout the western United States and has experienced tremendous growth since its inception in 1993. Specifically, Frontier has expertise in myriad areas of surveying, including U.S. mineral surveying for patenting of lode, placer and mill site claims, new claim locations, land boundaries, water rights, construction, project control and GPS control surveys.

Combining the two companies will provide the mining industry with a "one- stop-shop" for all services.

Summit Chief Executive Officer Thomas H. Gallagher said, "We have been growing and expanding the civil engineering aspect of our business, and have long considered expanding deeper into the mining industry. This acquisition is a clear sign that we are now fully engaged and prepared to serve the industry for all its needs."

Don McHarg, the other principal of Summit Engineering said, "I have known Bill Mueller for my entire professional life and this acquisition along with Bill’s capabilities and experience will result in an unparalleled ability to serve the mining industry."

Frontier founder and president Bill Mueller has been performing surveying services for mining interests in Nevada since 1973. He said, "Summit is a great company with a long history in the state — both in terms of its 26 years of business experience as well as family roots that reach back five generations in northern Nevada. This acquisition will tremendously benefit our clients, allowing us to provide an expanded array of services."

In addition to the wide range of services offered to the mining industry, Summit has successfully designed and provided all construction services for many of the major developments throughout the State of Nevada as well as the completion of many major public works projects. Among the company’s major accomplishments is the completion of numerous developments in northwest Reno consisting of thousands of residential units, commercial development and all ancillary facilities.

Summit maintains four offices in Nevada: Reno, Las Vegas, Elko and Ely. For more information, visit the company’s website at http://www.summitnv.com/.
