Flint, Michigan, Feb. 25, 2009 – Two ROWE Professional Services Company principals were named presidents of national and state societies of professional surveyors this month.
President and CEO John Matonich, PS, (right) was installed as president of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), headquartered in Washington, DC, on February 21. Director of Surveying Paul Brown, PS, (left) was installed as president of the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS), headquartered in Lansing, MI, on February 12.
NSPS has approximately 6,500 national members throughout the U.S.; MSPS has approximately 900 members in Michigan. Both organizations encourage high standards of ethical and professional behavior, promote public confidence in the profession, monitor relevant laws, and support new methods of surveying.
Matonich joined ROWE in 1981 as a project surveyor and engineer; he has been a licensed professional surveyor for 23 years. He served as chief operating officer from 1992 to 1999, was promoted to president in 1997, and chief executive officer in 2001. His NSPS term ends in April 2010. Matonich is currently licensed in Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
“I am honored to serve as president of NSPS,” said Matonich. “ROWE’s management has always encouraged its employees to be active in and promote their professions, as well as serving their communities. I am proud to carry on that tradition with this appointment. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the surveying profession and to developing additional relationships as I serve NSPS.”
Brown joined ROWE in 1977; he has been a licensed professional surveyor for 21 years. He was named vice president and principal in 1996. His MSPS term ends in February 2010.
