Award presented by Leica Geosystems during worldwide user conference
BHC RHODES, the Kansas City area’s expert for 3-D high-definition scanning (HDS), claimed a 2nd place award among 400 attendees on October, 26 at Leica Geosystem’s worldwide user conference in San Ramon, CA. BHC RHODES won in the Building/Heritage category with an entry of the deliverable they had provided to one of their area customers for a local University building project.
The entry was chosen for having the most intuitive and user friendly representation of the use of high definition scanning. BHC RHODES’ experts used a color map to represent units of measure of construction tolerances, a method known as an Isopach. Judges claimed BHC RHODES’ creative use of Isopach in high-definition scanning was unique in the manner in which the data was delivered to the customer for the face of a building. Most Isopach methods in high-definition scanning are used on horizontal ground surface projects, such as the new $36 million dollar soccer complex in Overland Park, KS where BHC RHODES used this same method. BHC RHODES’ entry was up against tough competition such as a 3-D high-definition scan of a 700 year old Scottish castle.
“I could not have anticipated our idea would win and attract international recognition,” said Matt Brungardt, Vice President of BHC RHODES. “This award is a testament to the extraordinary customer service we try to provide. Our creative thinking on how to best deliver information to our customers is what led to this.” BHC RHODES’ high-definition scanning was highlighted on NBC Action News and footage can be viewed by clicking the NBC logo on their web site, ibhc.com .
