Vancouver, B.C., June 6, 2007—GeoWeb 2007 organizers are pleased to announce that Vinton Cerf, vice president and chief Internet evangelist for Google, will be GeoWeb 2007’s Guest Speaker. GeoWeb 2007 will be held July 23-27, 2007, at the Morris J. Wosk Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Organized by Galdos Systems Inc. and supported by the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA), GeoWeb 2007 is the only conference focused exclusively on the convergence of Web technologies, XML, Web services, and GIS.

Widely known as one of the "Fathers of the Internet," Cerf is the co-designer of the TCP/IP protocols and the architecture of the Internet. In December 1997, former U.S. President Bill Clinton presented the U.S. National Medal of Technology to Cerf and his colleague, Robert E. Kahn, for founding and developing the Internet. In November 2005, U.S. President George W. Bush awarded Cerf and Kahn the Presidential Medal of Freedom for their work. The medal is the highest civilian award given by the United States to its citizens.
