Bethesda, Md.—The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency will host technical sessions, present research papers and exhibit some of its capabilities during the annual conference of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, May 1-5 at the Frontier Airlines Center in Milwaukee.
During the conference NGA scientists and researchers will moderate special sessions on open source motion imagery, geospatial visual analytics, sparsity and compressive sensing, and tradecraft for remote sensing and data exploitation. Details of NGA’s involvement in these sessions are attached.
In booth #104 of the ASPRS exhibit hall, NGA will showcase a range of geospatial intelligence capabilities and initiatives intended to put the power of GEOINT into the hands of users by increasingly delivering intelligence online and on demand, and by broadening and deepening analytical expertise. In addition, NGA employees and affiliated students will showcase the latest efforts to advance geospatial intelligence technology in a variety of applications. The exhibit hall opens on Tuesday, May 3, at 10 a.m. and closes on Thursday, May 5, at 11 a.m.
In addition, scientists from NGA’s basic and applied research division will lead a separate session on activity-based geospatial intelligence at a nearby off-site location on Monday, May 2. Activity-based GEOINT focuses on capturing activities as they occur and, based on understanding of patterns of life, analyzing those activities to determine normal from abnormal, to determine relationships, to discover networks, and to project and forecast in support of anticipatory intelligence analysis.
Founded in 1934, ASPRS is an international professional organization of 6,000 geospatial data professionals. ASPRS is devoted to advancing knowledge and improving understanding of the mapping sciences to promote responsible application of photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographic information systems and supporting technologies. Details about the conference and all sessions and exhibits are available on line at www.asprs.org/milwaukee2011.
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is the nation’s premier source of geospatial intelligence. As a Department of Defense combat support agency and a member of the U.S. Intelligence Community, NGA provides imagery analysis, maps and geospatial data for U. S. national defense, disaster relief and safety of navigation. NGA seeks to know the Earth, show the way, and understand the world. For more information, visit www.nga.mil.
