…. the next FIG Young Surveyors Network North American Meeting is happening!!!
After the inaugural 1st FIG Young Surveyors North American Meeting (YSNAM) held in San Diego in April, 2014 we want to take the next step and make the next YSNAM an even greater success! Now is the time to expand the meeting and ensure we have young surveyors from all across North America attending and participating.
The FIG definition of a Young Surveyor:
A person 35 years old or younger or within 10 years of graduation with a degree in surveying/geomatics.
If you are a young surveyor living in and a citizen of North America we invite you to attend! (Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Clipperton Island, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Greenland, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Montserrat, Navassa Island, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Louis, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, USA, United States Virgin Islands).
The FIG Young Surveyors North American Network will hold its next meeting in conjunction with and graciously hosted by the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS) during their 2016 Annual Conference. The 2nd FIG Young Surveyors North American meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA. Young surveyors attending will also have the opportunity and have been invited by the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors to receive complimentary admission to attend the remainder of MSPS Annual Conference, February 11-12.
Registration fee of US$40 includes participation in the meeting, continental breakfast, lunch and gala dinner.
The program is in the process of being finalized. Key speakers currently confirmed include:

• Terry Bennett- Senior Industry Strategist for Civil Infrastructure, Autodesk
• Don Buhler- Chief Cadastral Surveyor, US Dept of Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
• Bryn Fosburgh- Vice President, Trimble Navigation
• Ken Mooyman- President, Leica Geosystems (NAFTA)
• Melissa Robert- Engineer Surveyor, Uruguay Ministry of Transport and Public Works and FIG Young Surveyors South American Network
• Jon Warren- President, National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS)
• Dave Zenk- State Geodetic Advisor, NOAA- National Geodetic Survey
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) / Professional Development Hours (PDHs) may be available to those attending the meeting. Details are being finalized.
Updates will be announced on the FIG Young Surveyors Network webpage (www.fig.net/organisation/networks/ys) and Facebook page (FIG Young Surveyors). Information on hotel accommodations is also being finalized and will be sent to everyone who registers for the meeting.
Important note: registration is limited to the first 100 applications received!
If you want to participate in the meeting, you must register by December 31, 2015 (subject to capacity limit of 100 attendees).
