Elyria, Ohio – July 14, 2015 – Lynn S. Miggins, P.E., President of KS Associates, Inc., has been named President of The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Ohio. This statewide, non-profit organization is comprised of member firms that provide engineering services for all types of construction and environmental improvement projects. The organization’s mission is to enhance the economic and regulatory climate for private engineering companies and assist member companies in improving their business management practices so that they may provide high-quality professional services to their clients.
KS Associates has long been a member of ACEC and Miggins has served on the organization’s Board of Directors since 2010. In her new role as president, Miggins will direct the organization in strategic initiatives aimed at promoting state and national legislation that benefits engineering companies; promoting Ohio’s Qualifications-Based Selection Law, which encourages selection of the most qualified design firms for public work; improving the public understanding of the engineering industry; and providing educational, networking and recognition programs to benefit member firms.
Miggins brings to ACEC of Ohio a wealth of technical and business management experience. In 1987 she became president and majority owner of KS Associates, Inc., a successful civil engineering firm that has provided professional engineering and surveying services for the design and construction administration of numerous high-profile public infrastructure projects.
Miggins’ volunteer board positions include Team Lorain County, University of Akron Women in Engineering Advisory Council, and UH Elyria Medical Center. Miggins is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Water Works Association (AWWA), and Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS). Miggins is the recipient of the ASCE 2015 Outstanding Civil Engineer of the Year Award. She is also a 2013 Cleveland Engineering Society Hall of Fame inductee – the highest award given to an individual by the Society — and is a recipient of the Women of Achievement Award from the Elyria YWCA.
