Blue Marble Releases Global Energy Mapper v15.1 Featuring New Site Pad Tool Functionality

Hallowell, Maine – January 29, 2014 – Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce the release of Global Energy Mapper version 15.1. This minor release features a new option to the “Create Flattened Site Pad Plan” dialog box and improved processing of IHS Well (297/298) files. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization, and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and university organizations.

Global Energy Mapper is more than just a viewer capable of displaying the most popular raster, elevation, and vector datasets. It converts, edits, prints, tracks GPS, and allows users to utilize GIS functionality on a wide variety of datasets. With Global Energy Mapper users have access to the Blue Marble GeoCalc coordinate transformation, SpatialOnDemand subscription and custom industry tools like the pad site placement tool, seismic survey tools and built-in point types and symbols for the oil & gas industry.

This minor release of Global Energy Mapper v15.1 features an added option to the “Create Flattened Site Pad Plan” dialog box. This option allows users to specify that the new flattened terrain should be inside the selected area(s) rather than only outside. This allows the new terrain to smoothly transition from the heights at the edge of the defined area to the terrain surface inside the area. This release also features improved processing of IHS Well (297/298) files allowing directional surveys for each well to come in as separate lines. Now users have an enhanced method to visualize the entire well path in the 3D viewer.

This release also includes all the new features found in the Global Mapper v15.1 release including added support for MS SQL Spatial databases, enabling Global Energy Mapper to support all available spatial database types. Other enhancements include 3D support for displaying a path profile across separate terrain surfaces that allows users to easily compare the surface of multiple loaded terrain layers along a single path. Support for specifying sample elevations from gridded terrain surfaces along a corridor in the path profile, allowing the user to easily get the minimum, maximum, or average elevation surrounding the path, is also included in the release.
