August 1, 2013 – With recent staff accreditations, Merrick & Company (http://www.merrick.com/Infrastructure) offers additional capabilities to its highly talented team of professionals that will guide client’s infrastructure projects to successful levels of sustainability in accordance with the best practices outlined within Envision™. This sustainable infrastructure program completed by staff is supported jointly by American Society of Civil Engineers, American Public Works Association and American Council of Engineering Companies under the direction of the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). Merrick is a Charter Member of the Institute and the firm’s staff were instrumental in the development of the program from its inception.
Select Merrick staff are now ENV Sustainability Professionals (ENV SP) and are trained in utilizing the Envision™ sustainable infrastructure rating system program. The program serves as a guide to addressing triple bottom line sustainability dimensions in the design, construction, and operation of an infrastructure project. The program is developed to help designers, builders and owners construct and direct infrastructure projects toward increasing levels of sustainable performance of transportation, water, energy and other civil engineering infrastructure projects.
The following Merrick individuals recently were named ENV SP as ISI credentialed practitioners:
• Peter Binney, PE
• Carson Besgrove, PE
• Christina Wisleder, PE
• Bryan Metzler, PE
• John Holland, PE, LEED AP
With resources available as ENV SP’s, Merrick can now guide project teams on ways to improve sustainability measures as well as identify ways to reach higher levels of achievement in the five Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) credit categories: 1) Quality of Life 2) Leadership 3) Resource Allocation 4) Natural World, and 5) Climate and Risk. More information about the ISI can be found at http://www.sustainableinfrastructure.org/.
