Industry urges Association to Conduct the Conference
Aurora, Colo., June 18, 2012 – The 2012 Oil & Gas Pipeline Conference will be held October 22-24 in Houston, Texas as originally scheduled.
The reversal of the earlier decision to cancel the conference was made possible by the unequivocal and generous support of Willbros Engineers. An agreement to guarantee critical obligations involved with the conference provided the assurances to enable GITA to conduct this year’s event. Willbros will be recognized as the Conference Patron for its support.
ITA Executive Director Bob Samborski said, “Willbros took the lead in helping to find a way to get this done. We gratefully acknowledge their contributions and leadership in this effort. We look forward to fulfilling our commitment to produce a professional forum for unbiased education for geospatial practitioners in this key energy sector.” GITA retains all responsibilities for conference planning, exhibits management and program development.
Ed Wiegele, President of Willbros Professional Services, said, “I have personally been involved in this conference since its inception and I recognize the value it brings to this industry. The program addresses fundamental issues such as geospatial data and integrity that are very important to both users and vendors. Willbros is proud to support GITA’s efforts to continue with this valuable educational resource.”
Oil & Gas Pipeline Conference Committee Chair Jay Smith, Senior Account Manager, MJ Harden – Geoeye, said, “We were all very disappointed when the conference was cancelled. Now our focus is back on producing the very best program possible. We’re grateful for all the positive encouragement offered by users and vendors in the oil and gas pipeline industry.”
The deadline for abstracts has been extended until June 22. Reservations for the exhibit floor can be made on line. All related information is available on the Oil & Gas Pipeline Conference website, www.gita.org/gis.
