Fairfax, VA – The Virginia Association of Surveyors (VAS) today announced it will host a seminar on Friday, June 21 in Richmond, Virginia to provide comprehensive information and education on what individual surveyors can do about recruiting and hiring surveying personnel today and for the future.
The seminar, “Workforce Development: Hiring Today and Recruiting the Next Generation of Surveyors & Technicians for Tomorrow” is an 8-hour workshop featuring the most wide-ranging assemblage of experts on workforce development in surveying that has ever been gathered in Virginia or anywhere.
“This event will provide a lineup of speakers on how to hire in today’s challenging labor market, as well as things individual surveyors and their firms or organizations can do to attract and recruit the next generation workforce of surveyors and technicians,” said VAS Executive Director john Palatiello.
“Presentations will include a leading national geospatial recruiter who will provide tips on how to attract and enlist new employees today; results of a professional market study that identifies messages, target audiences, communications and media, strategies, and tools to help appeal to and interest individuals in a career in surveying; programs to identify and recruit military personnel and veterans who have gained surveying skills and experience while serving our nation to enter a career in surveying as they transition from their military service to civilian employment; and programs in high schools and community colleges in Virginia that are introducing students to a career in surveying and providing surveying education to prepare them for such careers. These presentations are of value not only to surveyors in Virginia, but practitioners across the Nation.” Palatiello added.
