Mountain Home Air Force Base – 2 September 2021 – From September 7 – 12, Mountain Home Air Force Base will be conducting training South-southeast of Bruneau in the vicinity of Saylor Creek Range. It is possible that devices in that area which rely on GPS may experience intermittent interruptions in signal between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. during these dates. Those who have GPS enabled agricultural equipment or other devices that rely on GPS may be impacted during this time. We will also work with the Idaho Farm Bureau to disseminate this information.
The impact of GPS interruptions will not be the same as previous training exercises. We are making every effort to limit the effects of the GPS reliability testing by using narrow and directionally-focused beam that will be targeted at specific aircraft. The equipment being used for the reliability testing will be positioned on the West side of Saylor Creek Range and will be directed West and Southwest. Natural backstops should make these effects unnoticeable to any GPS devices North and/or East of the dedicated area.
