Advance Notification of GPS Event That Could Affect COSPAS-SARSAT System Components

In February 2019, the COSPAS-SARSAT Council published a paper providing advance notification of the GPS Week Number Rollover event that could affect COSPAS-SARSAT system components. The paper discusses the possible impacts as a result of the GPS Week Number Rollover that will occur on April 6-7, 2019.

Purpose: This paper provides the background and information on an event that will occur 6 April 2019 with the GPS timing signal that could have an effect on the GPS timing calculations on various components in the Cospas-Sarsat System.

Description of topic: This paper is supplying information on the GPS rollover event and is intended to alert Cospas-Sarsat Participants of possible impacts.
