Tuck Mapping Partners with Vexcel Imaging and RIEGL for New Airborne Solution!

Tuck Mapping has created a new airborne mapping solution using components from Vexcel Imaging and RIEGL!

Tuck Mapping has paired their new RIEGL VQ-780i with the Vexcel Imaging UltraCam Falcon Mark 2 to create a high resolution/high accuracy product that allows Tuck Mapping’s clients the best of both worlds: simultaneous photogrammetry and LiDAR scanning.

The RIEGL VQ-780i is a high performance, rugged, lightweight, and compact airborne mapping sensor. This versatile system is designed for high efficient data acquisition at low, mid, and high altitudes, covering a variety of different airborne laser scanning applications from high density to ultra wide area mapping. The system provides clutter-free LiDAR point clouds with high accuracy, excellent vertical target resolution, calibrated reflectance readings, and pulse shape deviation for unsurpassed information content on each single measurement.

The Vexcel Imaging UltraCam Falcon Mark 2 is a large format digital aerial camera system that delivers optimized productivity and superior image quality. The system is ideal for capturing big areas in a short time by offering customers a versatile platform for their diverse aerial imaging projects. This is done through the choice of two focal lengths and the integration of all system components into the sensor head. This camera system is ideal for projects requiring high forward overlap at higher aircraft speed, is highly reliable, and produces highly detailed, accurate and stunning photogrammetric images.

The combination of the two systems from the manufacturing partners will enable Tuck Mapping to meet the specifications of both the imagery and point density while flying at one altitude—simply put, the best solution to meet the needs of their clients. This new system developed by Tuck Mapping has shown their creativity and forethought in anticipating and meeting their clients’ needs, as well as again proving that they are a leader in adopting the newest cutting-edge technology for the mapping industry.
