Hallowell, Maine – February 1, 2017 – Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce that it will be exhibiting and delivering two presentations at the combined International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) and American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Conference taking place in Denver, CO from February 5th-7th. This is the first time these two prestigious events have been held concurrently and it offers an opportunity for delegates to attend technical sessions in either track while visiting vendors in an integrated exhibit hall. Blue Marble will be showcasing the photogrammetric point cloud generating capability in Global Mapper’s new Pixels-to-Points™ tool at booth 704 in the exhibit hall.
For over two decades, Blue Marble’s affordable, user-friendly GIS software has been meeting the needs of hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers throughout the world. Users come from all industries including software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as government departments and academic institutions.
With a rapidly expanding worldwide customer base for both Global Mapper and for the accompanying LiDAR Module, ILMF/ASPRS provides the ideal venue for Blue Marble to engage with existing users and to introduce new customers to the software’s point cloud creation, editing, and analysis technologies. Version 19 of the LiDAR Module, which was released late last year, introduced a powerful new addition to the module’s toolkit. The Pixels-to-Points tool was developed to meet the needs of the growing UAV industry and specifically those UAV operators whose business involves the collection and analysis of 3D point cloud data. Employing the principles of photogrammetry, Pixels-to-Points is able to generate a high-density point cloud and a precise orthoimage from an array of overlapping geotagged images.
Pixels-to-Points supplements an already impressive collection of point cloud processing tools in the LiDAR Module. Noise removal capabilities, along with an expansive collection of filtering and editing tools, ensure that any analytic procedures are derived from raw data of the highest quality. The module also boasts an array of automatic reclassification algorithms that are able to accurately identify ground points, along with those representing buildings, trees, and powerlines. Extraction tools are subsequently able to render these as 3D vector objects.
Visitors to the Blue Marble booth at ILMF/ASPRS will have an opportunity to see these and many other Global Mapper tools in action.
"The introduction of the Pixels-to-Points tool is a groundbreaking development in the Global Mapper platform and we’re delighted to be showcasing this cutting-edge technology at the ILMF/ASPRS conference," stated Patrick Cunningham, Blue Marble President. "Pixels-to-Points consolidates Global Mapper’s growing reputation as the must-have application for anyone working with LiDAR or point cloud data."
At 11:15 a.m. on Monday, February 5th, the first day of ILMF, Kris Berglund from Blue Marble will be delivering a product preview presentation exploring the highlights of the Pixels-to-Points tool. Later in the week, at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7th, Kris will revisit this theme in a technical presentation within the ASPRS track.
