Change Of Command at the U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center

(NAVCEN) brought about a change to the Deputy Chair of the U.S. government’s Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC). On 24 July 2015, Captain Russell Holmes relieved Captain William Burns as NAVCEN’s Commanding Officer and CGSIC Deputy Chair for a tour of duty that will last into 2018. Captain Burns served as Commanding Officer of the Navigation Center and CGSIC Deputy Chair for the last 3 years. He is moving to a new assignment in Coast Guard Headquarters at the Office of Performance Management and Assessment (DCO-81). An insightful, strategic thinker, Captain Burns’ contributions to the U.S. civil GPS program will be missed. The CGSIC wishes him well and good luck in all his future endeavors.
