Major improvements include UI, scene size, measurement, coordinate setting, and targeting.
Houston, TX, USA, 31 March, 2015 – After extensive beta testing, today DotProduct officially announces the release of both Phi.3D 2.0 and the DPI-8 Kit, a landmark update to the core software product and powerful hardware upgrade to the tablet-based 3D capture kit.
Phi.3D 2.0: The next generation real-time 3D capture software from DotProduct
This major software release brings a vast array of improvements and additions to the technology. First, we see a significant update to the user interface and touchscreen navigation. By creating a more intuitive system, Phi.3D 2.0 produces an even simpler experience for the end user in the field. Next, Phi.3D 2.0 adds several brand new features in direct response to customer requests. The user is now able to set the coordinate system directly on the tablet, take measurements in the field, and integrate automatically with AprilTags. For more on setting coordinates: vimeo.com/121900303
Possibly the most exciting new feature lies in the Append tab. While users have always been able to append new data into an existing file, they were still limited by single scene size. With Phi.3D 2.0, users can now append new files into the same coordinate system. This in-field, on-tablet registration workflow allows for much larger total scene captures and further simplifies post-processing.
DPI-8 Kit: The powerful new handheld solution for Phi.3D 2.0
In addition to the software improvements of Phi.3D 2.0, the DPI-8 Kit brings hardware advancements to the technology. By integrating the NVIDIA SHIELD tablet, Phi.3D 2.0 can now capitalize on 2GB of RAM (twice the DPI-7), resulting in single scene capture potential of at least 3x the size. Also, the impressive 8” screen and Tegra K1 mobile processor deliver a high performance tablet for all Phi.3D 2.0 operations. For more on the SHIELD tablet: shield.nvidia.com/tablet
