Free Software, Carlson 3DX Viewer Has Arrived

View 3D Models Created in Carlson Civil, Construction, Mining, or Survey with the New 3Dx Viewer

Maysville, Kentucky, U.S.A (October 6, 2014) – It’s free, simple, and no CAD knowledge is needed; say hello to the Carlson 3DX Viewer, the new addition to Carlson Software that runs standalone and provides an easy way to show 3D models to others who don’t have, or aren’t familiar with CAD.

“The Carlson 3DX Viewer lets Carlson Civil, Survey or Construction users show the 3D models they’ve created to clients or colleagues,” says Dave Carlson, V.P. of Development for Carlson Software. “It’s designed to view a 3D surface in a simulated drive- or fly-over mode.”

Multiple options for surface shading, direction of travel, viewpoints, vehicles, light positions, and more are available. Three windows comprise the 3DX interface, a smaller window to the upper right shows the overall plan view and location of the vehicle on the surface; a middle window displays the current station, elevation, slope, and azimuth; and, the third window exhibits the amount of roll or cross slope at your current position.

Features of the 3DX Viewer also include the ability to determine the color of the surface entities when the shading mode is set to either flat or smooth. Color surfaces can also be adjusted according to high or low elevation ranges. When enabled, material textures such as grass can be applied to the view simulation.
