Graz, Austria — April 3, 2014 — TopGis, Ltd., has contracted to purchase an UltraCam Eagle digital aerial photogrammetric camera system with an 80mm lens from Microsoft’s UltraCam business unit and subsidiary.
The primary focus of TopGis is photogrammetric aerial surveys and data processing. TopGis will use the UltraCam Eagle to serve clients in the public and private sectors throughout the Czech Republic and Central Europe.
“The UltraCam Eagle offers the best fit for our needs for aerial imaging, orthophoto map production, derivative product development and related web map services,” stated Pavel Strašák, Chairman of the Board, TopGis. “In 2014 TopGis is starting a project to collect aerial imagery and produce orthophoto maps of the entire Czech Republic, so we require high volume collection capacity, reliability, and excellent data quality.”
The UltraCam Eagle is designed with an exchangeable lens system, which gives TopGis the option of later adding a 100mm lens for projects where building lean is an important consideration and a 210mm lens for high-altitude flying.
“The Ultracam Eagle’s exceptional technical capabilities allow us to create not only aerial orthophoto maps, but also color-infrared orthophoto maps, and to use automated techniques for digital surface generation and vegetation classification and to create other enhanced products,” said Drahomíra Zednícková, CEO, TopGis. “The UltraCam Eagle gives us a competitive advantage over other aerial imaging companies.”
“The UltraCam Eagle represents the culmination of many years of innovative research and development of the UltraCam product line,” said Alexander Wiechert, Microsoft Business Director. “Microsoft is pleased that TopGis has selected the UltraCam Eagle to support its future growth and success.”
About the UltraCam Eagle
The UltraCam Eagle features a pan image footprint of 20,010 pixels across the flight strip and includes enhanced electronics for improved frame rate and less noise (72 dB signal-to-noise ratio for high image dynamic) when compared to previous UltraCam systems, and innovative high-resolution, high-performance lenses and state-of-the art CCD technology (@ 5.2 µm pixel size) for sharp images with a high dynamic range. The UltraCam Eagle is the first multi-cone large format digital photogrammetric camera to offer an exchangeable lens system with 80mm, 100mm, and 210mm options. This digital camera system boasts an integrated housing concept with all of the parts residing in a modular sensor head. The small physical form factor of the UltraCam Eagle requires minimal space in the aircraft and makes installation and operation simple.
