STARA Technologies Launches Lynx ISR Vehicle Mounted Surveillance System at FIDAE 2014

FIDAE, Santiago, Chile, March 25, 2014 – STARA Technologies, Inc. (STARA) announced today the launch of its Lynx ISR (Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance) system. The Lynx ISR is a scaleable multi-sensor vehicle-mounted surveillance system that supports rapid-response mobile operations. Lynx ISR will be on display in L-3 WESCAM’s outdoor exhibit stand #O-C02 at the 2014 FIDAE Exhibition and Air Show, March 25–28.

“The Lynx ISR is an advanced vehicle-mounted surveillance system with a ruggedized and flexible design; which enables an all-weather, fully stabilized means to detect, identity, geolocate, and track threats with actionable intelligence in the harshest of climates and operating conditions while stationary or on-the-move,” said Vic Taber, Chief Operating Officer of STARA. “This system has been specifically designed with industry leading sensors, radar, and video exploitation software. Its critical ruggedization and modular features allow the Lynx ISR to fulfill various mission roles on all types of military and commercial vehicles.”

The Lynx’s modular approach enables scalable turn-key system solutions; giving customers the flexibility to alter sensor payloads, options, mast lengths, and surveillance software, adapting to budget constraints and unique end-user and program requirements.

STARA selected L-3 WESCAM’s MX™-RSTA (Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition) as the baseline electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) imaging sensor for the Lynx solution. The MX™-RSTA contains a high definition (HD) daylight imager, a cooled mid-wave infrared (MWIR) imager and an eyesafe laser rangefinder (ELRF); with options for low-light TV (LLTV), eyesafe laser illuminator/pointer, and a long range electro-optical spotter. A truly advanced product, the MX™-RSTA’s rugged design can survive a +1 meter drop test and its industry-leading 4-axis advanced stabilization allows for superior on-the-move operations and license plate readings at up to 1 kilometer.

SRC’s SR Hawk, a ground moving target indicator (GMTI) radar, was selected by STARA in part because of its long-range detection capabilities, but also because it is operator preferred. The SR Hawk detects moving personnel at up to12km/7mi and vehicles at up to 30km/18mi, tracks up to 350 simultaneous targets with automated priority target track mode, and is proven as an intuitive and easy-to-operate radar system with a low false alarm rating and low lifecycle support costs.

Lynx is the most recent ISR platform solution to join the Flexible Area Surveillance Technology Network (FASTNET). With over 40 systems deployed worldwide, FASTNET is the premier persistent surveillance system in government and commercial marketplaces today. Designed for operations in austere, combat, and remote locations, FASTNET platforms, such as aerostats, towers, and Lynx, are ideal for military and police applications; border management; critical infrastructure protection missions; disaster recovery and humanitarian aid.
