GEO Business 2014 Launches Inaugural Conference Programme

Diversified Communications UK, the team behind GEO Business, has recently announced that the final, vital component for its inaugural event is now in place following the launch of a powerful and hard hitting conference programme.

Set to take place in London at the Business Design Centre from 28–29 May 2014, the event’s conference committee say they are confident that they have compiled a pioneering programme, which not only covers the breadth of the geospatial industry but is specifically formulated to keep delegates one step ahead of their competition. When combined with the strong list of exhibiting companies and extensive commercial workshop programme, it’s clear to see why GEO Business has already generated so much anticipation amongst those involved in the gathering, storing, processing and/or delivery of geospatial information.

Already supported by a host of industry leaders, the latest names to lend their expertise to the event are Dr Vanessa Lawrence CB, Director General and CEO of Ordnance Survey, who will present on day one during the opening ceremony. David Philp, Head of BIM Implementation at Cabinet Office/ Mace Group will lead the line up on day one in the BIM Meets Geospatial session. Meanwhile Anne Kemp the Director for BIM Strategy and Development Atkins Limited, Chair AGI, Chair ICE BIM Action Group, Vice Chair BIM4Infrastructure, will start proceedings on day two with her opening keynote address.

“We are delighted to welcome such prominent industry figures to GEO Business, it is an impressive line-up for any show – let alone a launch event, and is a fabulous endorsement for GEO Business moving forward. From the speakers to the exhibitors and the visitors themselves – the who’s who of the sector will be at this show doing business. It’s going to be a very busy and productive two days,” comments Event Director Versha Carter.

The cutting edge conference programme was formulated following a formal scoring and selection process carried out by the event’s conference commitee. The response to the call for papers was phenomenal and the committee were overwhelmed by the number and quality of the abstracts submitted: “It was great to read such a diverse range of abstracts, which revealed the many areas of business that are open to our industry,” comments Mike Hopkins, Committee Member and Managing Director of Storm Geomatics.

The Conference Programme includes sessions on Making Data Deliverable, Specifications and Standards, Recent Project Examples, Smart GIS, Coastal and Hydrographic, Global Trends, Survey Operations and System Integration, BIM Meets Geospatial, Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA), Geospatial Education – the Future and Exploiting the Power of Big Data. “The great range of presentations for the GEO Business conference identifies new approaches to data capture, data analysis and information management, along with a fascinating range of projects. It also demonstrates how geospatial survey data is at the very heart of BIM,” says Chris Preston Conference Committee Chairman and Chair RICS Geomatics Professional Group Board.

Registration to attend the exhibition and the commercial workshops is free of charge and the early bird delegate rate to attend the conference is only £150. These rates are available to all delegates that register by 11th April 2014. To take advantage of this visit www.geobusinessshow.com/registration/
