SmartNet North America Releases New Tools for Improved GNSS Productivity

New support tools, Rover Error Logs and a RINEX Project Tool streamline data access for a fully integrated, highly efficient network RTK experience.

Norcross, GA, October 23, 2013 – SmartNet North America (, the high-precision, high-availability network RTK correction service, has released a number of new tools to improve GNSS productivity and support, including additional support tools, online Rover Error Logs, and a RINEX Project Tool.

With the launch of the new SmartNet Portal last year, SmartNet added a completely new support ticketing system along with an online Knowledge Base. To continue to ensure users get the quickest and most complete support experience, SmartNet has now launched a new Live Support Chat feature directly on the SmartNet User Portal. "This new tool allows our support staff to quickly respond to customers’ questions, either from the office or the field,” said Wendy Watson, Director, Reference Station Operations – GNSS reference networks. “The tool integrates directly into our existing support tools and ticketing systems and also supports chat requests from smartphones so users in the field can get quick and immediate support.”

With the online Rover Error Logs, users who are logged into the SmartNet User Portal can see at a glance any rover errors that are recorded in their account. These logs also contain links to online Knowledge Base articles that provide the user with immediate corrective steps that can be taken to provide fast error resolution in the field.

The new RINEX Project Tool provides a streamlined, unified tool for end users to retrieve RINEX data directly through the SmartNet User Portal. By selecting the desired area on the SmartNet map, users can choose from the eight closest stations. From there, they can select other project parameters such as the date, time and duration of the project. All project data is immediately accessible at any time through the portal along with related quality control data. “This integration will not only allow our customers a single interface for both their RTK and static data needs, but it will also consolidate the management of stations and station metadata to improve overall efficiency for both end users and SmartNet staff,” Watson said.

SmartNet North America is fully open to all makes and models of GNSS equipment and is designed for high reliability. In fact, the popular network RTK service continued to offer reliable corrections throughout the recent US federal government shutdown when NGS data was unavailable. The new tools were developed based on user feedback regarding features they would like to see in a network RTK service. “We are very customer-focused and highly tuned in to their needs,” Watson said. “We are constantly looking for new ways to help our customers save time and maximize their use of GNSS positioning.”
