ACA Accepts Delivery of the RIEGL VMX-450 Mobile LiDAR Sensor

August 5, 2013, Orlando, FL – Aerial Cartographics of America, Inc. (ACA) in conjunction with its parent company, Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) took delivery of the Riegl VMX-450 Mobile Laser Scanning System on July 25, 2013. The system is equipped with two 360o field of view laser scanners and 6 professional digital SLR cameras, custom mounted for optimal viewing capabilities. Additionally the system is equipped with dual GNSS receivers for a superior GAMM Solution. The system is self-calibrated and transferrable between multiple platforms including water craft and high-rail vehicles. Applications include pavement analysis, transportation and rail design, asset inventories, topographic and planimetric mapping. ACA and GPI are able to offer clients the most advanced technical mapping solutions available for projects of any size or complexity.

Over the last year ACA conducted an extensive analysis of Mobile LiDAR, LAMP, and Helicopter LiDAR technologies and after comparing the repeatable accuracies of each, the results led ACA to the purchase the Riegl VMX-450. Not only did the Riegl unit prove to be more robust than the other technologies but also proved to outshine all other Mobile LiDAR systems with increased performance and reliability. Mobile LiDAR provides a complete, streamlined mapping solution that is ideal for corridor mapping, topographic mapping, asset inventories, intersection safety inspections, bridge/overpass modeling, pavement analysis, hydrologic survey projects and more.

The Mobile LiDAR Division is lead by Mr. Patrick Senne, PSM, Vice President of Transportation at ACA. Mr. Senne, with over 25 years of Survey and Mapping experience in the Transportation industry, applies his expertise to determine the most innovative and cost-effective mapping solutions to meet or exceed State DOT specifications throughout the United States.
