Innovations in Measurement Technology and Automation
At this year’s CONTROL, Neubeuern-based Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH – the world’s leading provider of optical measurement and sensor technology – will be exhibiting two new hardware and software products plus new modular and flexible robot measurement cells from Steinbichler CONZEPT Solutions GmbH at Stand 5304 in Hall 5. “The improvements made to the COMET systems include not only its unique resolution, new projection technology and superior measurement speed, but many other innovative features that streamline working procedures,” reports Hans Weigert, Head of Sales & Distribution at Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH. “In conjunction with our new software, which introduces a completely novel workflow offering step-by-step help to operators in their daily work, this is also the very first time that maximum data quality and speed have been accessible without requiring expert knowledge. Our compact measurement cells, on the other hand, focus on simplifying automated 3D digitalisation with custom configuration options.”
The new all-in-one measurement cells from Steinbichler CONZEPT Solutions GmbH offer the benefits of a fully-modular automation solution plus innovative sensor technology for cyclical measurement tasks. Both measurement cells and peripherals are based on a modular platform, and all models offer simple options for scaling up or upgrading. This also permits straightforward reconfiguration at any time if requirements change (e.g. component size or environmental conditions), ensuring automated measurement is possible in any industrial environment. RobotScanFlex measurement cells are high-performance, all-in-solutions that take very little time to deploy and are available at three separate installation levels, plus expansion options. Operators can select an application-specific measurement cell model to suit a wide range of installation formats: from a unilaterally open configuration with a light curtain through to an entirely enclosed solution that can be supplied as a fully air-conditioned unit. In addition, the optionally-available active pneumatic vibration damping offers outstanding performance for any area of manufacturing. Lastly, fully-automated integrated sensor calibration guarantees users the precise measurement data required by the most stringent quality assurance processes.
With loading/off-loading options via forklift or pallet truck, the all-in-one measurement cells also offer first-class component handling. The specially-designed component carriers ensure measurement objects can be positioned quickly, simply and securely. At the end of the day, customers turn to Steinbichler CONZEPT Solutions as a one-stop shop for all-in-one automation systems with perfectly matched components that also feature the long-standing expertise in optical sensor technology from Steinbichler Optotechnik.
“The new products exhibited at CONTROL illustrate the course that Steinbichler will pursue in the future,” emphasises Hans Weigert. “This applies in particular to our improved COMET system in terms of its design, ergonomics and small footprint. By analysing the interactive use of the system, this strategy has enabled us to design a product that redefines how we work with high-precision optical sensors. What’s more, our new stand design at CONTROL – with its motto of ‘Strip light in motion’ – also focuses on the areas of clarity, brightness and a small form factor.”
