Leica Geosystems Mining is proud to announce the appointment of Mr Dave Goddard as Portfolio Manager for the Leica J3autonomous (Intelligent Machine Systems) product portfolio. In this role, Mr Goddard will be responsible for all business development, commercialization and product management functions for the Leica J3autonomous product family. He will be spearheading the ongoing solution development for remote control, tele-operated, semi-autonomous and fully autonomous mining.
“Dave’s appointment comes on the back of the significant growth and expansion of our J3autonomous product line.” stated Dr Neil Harries, General Manager of Global Product Management and North American Business Manager, “In light of the commercial interest we are fielding and the intensive projects we have underway with key clients, Dave will be a true asset to the Leica Geosystems Mining team.”
Mr Goddard brings strong business acumen to the Mining team, developed over the past 15 years, with a number of mining technology suppliers. He has extensive technical leadership experience in the mining and heavy machine industries, and a history of successfully introducing change agent technologies to established mining processes. Mr Goddard’s most recent operations technology management role at Newmont Mining Corporation affords him a practical understanding of the mining customer’s operational and stakeholder needs in direct relation to the automation process.
“There is an exciting opportunity in recognizing that mining companies obtain machines and technologies from a variety of sources and may be uncomfortable with sole-sourcing their automation strategy from their truck supplier,” said Mr Goddard. “The mining customer wants today’s incremental investments in human-assist technology to be OEM independent, driven by a vision of future autonomous operation, yet providing operational value today.”
Mr Goddard will be based in the greater Denver area and can be reached at Contact Dave.
