BHC RHODES Honors Jennifer Miller for Her Work to Build Awareness of Human Trafficking

BHC RHODES Civil Engineering and Surveying Firm awarded Ms. Jennifer Miller, Business Development Manager at Professional Services Industries, Inc. (PSI) with their eighth annual Community Leadership Award, at the Mission Hills Country Club on October, 24. Miller was recognized for her work with victims of human trafficking and her effort to build awareness of the issue in Kansas City. Presenter of the award on behalf of BHC RHODES was Mr. Toby Cook, Vice President of Community Affairs & Publicity for the Kansas City Royals organization. Guest speakers were FBI Supervisory Special Agent Mr. Marlin Ritzman and Ms. Morgan Goatley, Development Director, with Exodus Cry.

Attendees included nearly one hundred business professionals, community leaders and dignitaries. The presentation highlighted Miller’s involvement with child victims of human trafficking in Thailand and Africa, and her effort to build awareness in the Kansas City area. Speakers educated attendees on the current statistics of human trafficking in Kansas and Missouri and how to get involved by volunteering and knowing what signs to watch for in children.

In addition to the award, BHC RHODES presented a financial contribution in honor of Miller to a non-profit of her choice. Miller selected Exodus Cry, a local organization that fights to end human slavery and New Hope Home, a shelter in Thailand where Miller has volunteered. New Hope Home rescues children with HIV/AIDES who have been trafficked. BHC RHODES began the Community Leadership Award program in 2005 to honor an industry professional for his/her efforts in giving back to communities. Past recipients include: Dr. Craig Denny, Ph. D., Mr. David Block, Mr. Mac Andrew, P.E., Mr. Wayne Moody, P.E., Mr. Bob Roddy, P.E., Ms. Courtney Christensen and Ms. Julie Wellner, AIA.
